Older Red Wing Hunter Brace Height
« on: March 26, 2009, 09:21:00 PM »
I have an older pre-HeadSki (1960's) 58" Red Wing Hunter, S/R R-9328, gold/green decal. Does anyone know what the suggested brace height range was for that bow?  My understanding is it is a pre-AMO bow and the correct string for it would be 53", not 54".  It's at 9 1/8 now with a 53" string.  Seems to shoot okay, but I'm a little concerned about stressing this beautiful bow.

Thanks

9 1/8 is pretty high on a Wing.I believe the Red Wing Hunters should brace at 7 1/2 - 8 1/2..bowdoc

I like them at 8 1/2 or so too. Thats high for
most 58" bows but the RWH has a pretty heavy
recurve to it.

Thanks guys, I'll try adding another 1/2" to the string and see where that gets me.  I also have a 58" AMF Red Wing that is at 8 1/2 and definately likes it there.

Mine is a 52" and it's at 7 3/4. It's quiet and dead n the hand and shoots well. Should I try to raise it?

What's a good arrow to shoot thru this thing? It really shoots well

Thanks
