Yes, "Micarta" is a brand name and interchangeable for linen phenolic. This material is stable (low expansion) and strong (in all planes) being made from many thin layers of woven linen cloth joined together with phenolic resin. Black colored Micarta was used extensively in 1967-1974 era bows like the Bear Super Kodiaks, Super-48's and Tamerlane, Shakespeare Cascade, Wing P-II, Slim Line and Thunderbird, Blackhawk and others. Wilson Bros used white micarta on their fine target bows. Linen phenolic is manufactured in a wide range of colors.
