Pro Med 5PM
« on: April 12, 2009, 11:00:00 AM »
Just bought it and have a few questions.
The riser looks to be Rosewood but have read on here that 5 PM's were maple stained rosewood, how can I really tell? The Serial # reads 5PM-7001. It's 66" @ 32#. Also, what is the starting brace height for these bows? Mine is 9 1/4" with the supplied string, I plan on getting a new b-50 dacron endless made. This bow has the Micro adjustable rest with the original stick on Hoyt pro rest, stabilizer inserts, one in bottom face and two on the front along with two 5"chrome bars that look to be original. I plan on refinishing the bow in the future but for now just a wash with soap and water then I gave it a rub down with goo gone, next I plan on giving it a wax job with Johnson's paste. This should be fun to shoot!!  Thanks all.

I believe a 5PM is bubinga and bit more of a redish tone to the wood.9 1/4 seems a little high maybe 8-8 1/2.Those  are super good shooting bows.bd

Jeff -

I think that the Hoyt ProMedalists thru the 5PM series were usually made from East Indian rosewood, but I have seen a few in Brazilian rosewood and in at least one other wood, which I cannot recall.

The 6PM series were made from stained maple.
