Today a client of mine showed me a bow that was built and given to the propery owners grandfather by Fred Bear himself. It was made out of one peice of wood with the exception of the tips that had a laminated peice that formed a kind of kicker. It had a stamp in it that said "Bear Products" and "Grizzly" just below that. He said that it pulled 80#. I will try to get some pictures of it. Thouhgt some might enjoy the story. My thoughts were if only that bow could talk!!

ductape - In the early 1940s the "Bear Products" branding iron was taken out of use for a couple of reasons. The company name changed and the branding iron was dropped and damaged. The Grizzly was not produced until 1949. So the dates are several years apart for a brand or stamp of "Bear Products" and "Grizzly".

Also never heard of "Grizzly" being branded into any Bear bow. The 1949 Grizzly had a water transfer decal.

Again, anything is possible. Exceptions keep surfacing.

As Kurt already said... "I would love to see pictures of it".

That is posible, the letters are old and worn. It gave me a feeling of awe to hold such a bow. hope to have pics tomorrow night if I can remember the camera

This is an old osage bow with laminations on the tips. not sure of the function of the tips and would love to hear from anyone. Thanks. Hope ya'll like the pics.

Hey Jeff
There are bunch of Grumley guys here,(I'm not one of them)lol Its Turkey season so might be a little bit to hear from them.

The tips are called Syiahs (sp)I believe they were made to increase the speed of the arrow by snapping forward when shot. Someone will be along to correct me, but I think thats the basic idea.

That is a real beauty and a must be great for your buddy to have a Bear Grumley given by Fred himself.
