I was very happy to buy that T/D, but sad thinking you were having a fire sale.
My son is not as interested as he used to be, but my 19yr daughter is sneaking off to my club, while I am work. lol

This forum always amazes me. I put the word out that I was seeking a '62 for Baltimore and I got 4 offers from gentlemen willing to sell me their bow. I have decided to buy Cam's. SOme people wanted more and some wanted less; his suits me well. Only drawback is 2 open unfilled holes. I may fill them, or I may throw a kwikee kwiver bracket on them. I shoot my '65 Kodiak real well and it has holes in it with a kwikee on it. I think the holes take away astetically but it sure doesn't seem to effect the shooting.

Cam's looks like it has a beatiful , still wet, grain to it and the weight is perfect.

Thanks to all for the comments and compliments! I'm doing my best to keep her occupied with useful, fun, decent things - in a world full of everything else!

Kurt- things have been better around here, but I'm not ready for the bread line yet. Sorry if I gave that impression.

Bill- you will like this little bow. Although she's seen a little abuse, it's like most 62 Kodiaks in that you look at the spot, hit anchor, and the arrow is THERE! Just amazing! CKruse

WOW! What a great thread.

First of all, Bill...Call 3Rivers and order part number "5340 Riser Inserts". These are the brass inserts with screws for the Kwikee bracket. We can fix you right up. If you don't dig it, I'll take it off your hands, 'cause you know how I like Kwikees (yes, pun intended).

Second, and most important, Cameron...I know exactly how you feel. Family is first, and much more important than some pieces of wood and glass. They make/made more bows, but He only makes a few moments in time you can truly relish with our children in the big scheme of things. Trading bows for those moments is a basic "no brainer" in my book, and I commend you and others for doing it. I know mine are "on the block" when the time comes if they need be. Enjoy every second, and by any means possible. No need to explain to us, but PLEASE share what you can with this "family".

Cameron (and anyone else with young ones),

Does your daughter's shcool participate in the National Archery in the Schools Program? My granddaughter in Ohio is in it and from what I've heard, a fair number of states are involved. They shoot Genesis zero let-off wheelie bows, adjustable from 10-20 pounds, fingers and no sights. It sounds like a decent program and should be easy to switch over to traditional. I'am not sure how this thread went from wanting a 1962 Kodiak to the kids and back to the Kodiak.
I do not have a 1962 to show you guy's pics of.I sold it several months ago and miss her alot.I kind of wish I had it back but the money was well spent on tools for my shop.
OK thats may story on the 1962 and I will land another one day I'am sure.
Now back to the kids.There is just not enough room on this thread for me to tell ya'all what I think about getting kids into archery.I am not a gun hunter at all only archery so I have to keep them involed in archery in order to get them involed in hunting.And since you asked and I'am pretty damn pround of them all.This would be my number one and number two grandsons weekend before last at their first 3D's ever.2nd and a 3rd place in their age group and bow class.Which by the way were both shooting with Bear bows of course.Small man shots a new type kids 3 piece take down and the number one grandson shoots a 1964 Bear Kodiak Magnum...bowdocs grandsons for sure.And again Bill thank you for posting this thread about 1962 Kodiak and thank you Cam for having things in order and posting about 1962 Kodiaks kids and the love of them both...you guy's rock bd.....whoooooops Killie I do not want to forget to mention the two girls in the background both grandaughters whom both shot and love archery and I'am working on the hunting part now and two good son-in-laws in the pic too...

If that Mtn goat shot on the cliff behind #1 grandson is from that white patch 1/2 way up the hill, they earned those trophies.

From 3Rivers, order a set of brass quiver inserts, You will have to drill those wholes a tad wider, I think 21/64, to install them. When done, they look like a factory job, and better than raw holes or covering them with a Kwickie bracket. Any time you want to pit a Kwickie Quiver on it, it is ready to go.

Once drilled, before you screw the brass inserts in, swab the hole with epoxy. This will seal the wood from moisture.

Just be careful to not drill all the way through the riser like I did with my Black Widow Diamond Anniversery.

Jack.....drilling to far reminds me of a guy at work that did the worst I've seen, wasn't drilling a bow but it just poped up when I read yours....he was millwright at work he hit his thumb with hammer then got the bright idea to chuck up a small drill bit in the press turn it on and place his thumb nail against the drill bit now turning fast, apparently he thought it would stop as soon as it went through the nail boy he was wrong by the time I got down there after hearing the oh Sh*Ts and a few more noises the bit was all the way through the thumb....

I guess the Morel of the story...sh*t happens

The inserts have already been ordered from 3 Rivers. I think I probably will go with a kwickee kwiver- I like the one on my '65.

Bill, the bow went out this morning. This thread took on a life of it's own, with a lot of redeeming qualities. Let me know how it shoots for you. I was simply amazed by how it did for me. Thank goodness I've got her big sister to play with in the future! CKruse
