Which year do you all think is the best shooter of the 62" Grizzly's?

I have a 1962 and 1961-there sure is a difference in design of limbs. The '62 limbs are laid back(come straighter of the handle) than the '61(these are more deflex). Also, the '62 has narrower limbs and more recurve.

Handles on both are nearly identical except for the fadeout locations and the '61 handle is thicker.

I've had several 62" Grizzlies. My favorite shooter of the ones I've had was a 50# 1958 Grizzly.

Not the prettiest Griz but WOW !!! what a shooter.

Bjorn warned me against selling it. He was right, I'd love to have it back.

Trap-you aren't the only one to miss a 1958 Grizzly-funny how some years are standouts more so than others. 59/60 are 62" too, and way prettier bows, much more appealing to the eye and to collect; but not quite the same when it comes to pure shooting performance.

Isn't the 1958 Grizzly the one with a longbow type handle?

Mainly I was just asking between 1959, 60, 61 & 1962 years only?

I guess I will have to wait till I shoot a 58 but
I can't imagine liking it more than my 59 Griz's

I don't care for the 61 G, mine is not as quite or as fast in the same weights.

The 63 weights a ton comparatively, it thumps the arrows home though.

I have a sweet shooting '58 as well, I actually prefer it to the '58 Kodiak although both are good shooters the Grizzly just seems to make my shooting much better than it really is.

Kelly, correct the 58 has a longbow style riser. The limbs are narrow and taper to very narrow tips making it a screamer and very quiet.

The 59 is my favorite of the 1959-1962 Grizzlies. I think the grip is the thing that sets it above the rest for me.

The '58 Grizz is the second from the bottom.

I sorely miss my '58, but it's in a good home right now!

My favorite Grizz in the '53-'62 years is the '59, with the '58 a very close second. Of your two, I prefer the '62, which is arguably the nicest shooting Grizz and certainly the last sweet shooting Grizz Bear made. Well, my .02 anyway :D

Is the one above it a 57? sure is more of a long bow than recurve.
The 58G looks very close to the 56/57 KS riser shape wise.

Kelly it depends on which 1961 1962 you are looking at.Some early 1962 do have the late 1961 limb design.The 1959-1962 are about my favorite shooting Grizzly of all.bd

Well my '61 and '62 are different as far as limb design goes. Definitely the '62 has more recurve, more deflex limb and narrower limbs. Can't imagine any other Grizzly shooting any better. Why did Bear go away from this design?

The one above the '58 Grizz is a '57 Polar 'semi-recurve'(or early '58... tough to tell) The top bow is the '58 Alaskan and the bottom is the '58 Kodiak.

Kelly I have two 1962 Grizzly(45#-50#)with the later more curved or more deflex reflex limb design.I could not agree with you more.Those are just super good shooting bows.My 50#er shoots a 648 grain Sweetland forgewood so sweet you can't believe it.They are not super fast shooters but they are super good shooters.They have really really good cast to them as well.Great year bow.....bowdoc

Ok, just picked up either a 1959 or 1960 Grizzly, serial number FC324 with 4 layer tips-black/white/black/white, light green glass on back, reddish brown on belly. Which year do I have?

The only difference I know is the '59 has micarta paper tips, while the '60 has fiberglass tips. The glass tips are usually more rounded and shiny.

The double chevrons on the riser, the serial number and the micarta tips say 59 to me.

Post pics when you get it and Bjorn and others will be able to tell for sure.

Either way, it's a great bow at a great price. Congrats on winning that one.
