Ben Pearson Take Down Bow Early 50's
« on: May 20, 2009, 06:07:00 PM »
Hi Everyone,
I have gotten a lot of opinions on this bow and was referred here by a man on another site to possibly get some help. I have a bow that I am sure is I do believe to be rare.
Hi Everyone,
I have a very old take down bow by Ben Pearson that I am getting a ton of different answers on. I am trying to identify the exact year of the bow. I know it was made before 58 but can't pin point the year. The numbers on the bow are not stamped on the wood they look carved into the wood. I have the original bag and wood arrows. Could some of you out there help me. I would like for you to see the engraved numbers. The bow is green on one side. My understanding is it is early 50's to mid but I would like to pin point the exact year. I understand Ben Pearson made bow in mass production and a lot of people think that most of them are not of collectors statue but this was one of the first and before the mass production, it was kept in line that the bushmaster was designed from so I do believe it to have some value. please email me at [email protected] if you can help
Thanks,
Lisa
I don't think I can upload pictures here. I have it in an auction and have a pretty high reserve on it. This is the link, I don't know anything about bows except what I am learning now. It is a long link just copy and paste to your browser. Thanks everyone,
Lisa
I had a link and it wouldn't take it and I posted this once and I don't know what happened. I am still learning the site. How do you post pictures?

That's the item no. from Lisa's first post. Can't say anything about that bow, other than it is evidently NOT a t/d.

Lisa your bow is a bushmaster from 1958 or 1959. 58 was the first year that Pearson used the multi colored wood before that was lemond wood or yew. that is the only years they made the bushmaster bow.

I was reading that the 58 has a cream colored wood that went in the handle, This is metal. Go look at item number 120016331624 om **** I believe that is a 58 or 59

This is the site I am reading from but he is missing some books.

The Bushmaster is a two piece TD. There is a metal sleeve on the bottom under the leather wrap, and the top limb slides into it. There may be gray (JB weld?) epoxy around the butt of the upper limb.
