Justin - The bow at the far right of the five 1961 Kodiaks is 70#, the middle bow is 60#.

Justin - Good Idea!!! - Hadn't thought of donating an organ for the 70# 1961 Kodiak. To acquire it, I donated the balance of my banking account because it was the last heavy weight Kodiak needed to complete the collection of Special Order Heavy Weight Kodiaks.

As Doc just pointed out, it has a tapered sight sight window. I refer to it as the Wedge sight window, which was the standard Kodiak sight window configuration up through 1956.

In 1957 the Kodiak sight window was changed to be scalloped, somewhat similar to the four 1961 Kodiaks to the left in the photograph above.

However, from 1957 to 1962 the Wedge sight window was used on some of the heavy weight Kodiak and Kodiak Deluxe bows (heavy weights were available on Special Order). Bear possibly made other models of Wedge sight window bows, or special order heavy weight bows, that I have not heard of... yet.

These are photographs of the other three 1948 bows you asked about. Hopefully they will help you identify the bows you are going to look at. While these three bows are similar, the laminations are different... Also want to caution you that by 1951 the Ranger had a woven glass back rather than the marcarta (called fiber in the the Bear Catalog).

Shown left to right, it is hard to see the laminations in these photographs...

wow i didnt even notice that the first time i saw the pictures.  that is really cool!  i have a few heavier kodiaks.  1956 through 1958.  i used to have a sweet 1959 56 inch 65# kodiak that i got a garage sale for 10 bucks but sold it before i knew what i had (only 19 yrs old at the time)...still kinda sick about that one but that bow is what got me back into archery so it all worked out in the end!
