All of the bows that I've added to my collection have been pretty much one at time. At a garage sale, estate sale, auction ... and like most of you guys,I have a couple of friends will pick a bow up for me when they come across one.
Well this time it was more than one... It was a pile of bows in boxes!
Thanks too my great friend who helped me keep as many of these bows together as possible.
As We took them out of the boxes I could not believe the condition they are in. Most had strings, so we started stringing them up and doing some shooting. Just like new K Mags, Kodiak Hunters,Kodiak Specials, Grizzlies, Tamerlanes,Red Wings, Slim Lines, White Wings, Swift Wings, Presentations ... It was an amazing day to say the Least!
I could not decide which ones I wanted, there was too many, too nice, too cool! I bought them all.
I soon started realizing that this pile of beautiful old bows was even more special than I thought.
These are the bows of Bill Stewart.
In case you haven't heard of him yet,
A quick search will tell you about his inventions, innovations and designs he created while working as head bowyer/designer for Bear Archery, Wing, Howatt and a few others before going into business for himself.
After looking into his work and history in archery it seems to me almost everyone who shoots a bow today, whether traditional or modern is holding some of Bill Stewarts ingenuity in their hands.
I'm going to post these in what I think is the right order. It seems that every year he designed a new bow or two. The details and woods that he chose for them are very unique and beautiful. After getting approval, showing them off to Fred... it seems that they were put away in these boxes. Probably almost zero handling or even light on them all these years!
I'll put down the specs. as I see them or have learned. Please fill in any blanks or correct any wrong info that you can. These pics are for personal uses only. Reprint only with written permission
