Finally found one
« on: July 18, 2009, 06:31:00 PM »
After twenty years or more of looking for an old Bear Custom take down I bought one today. I am not a collector and do not know a lot about these bows. It is an A riser that has brown colored bear on the latches, no holes anywhere and looks new. The limbs are #1 and say they are 45# on the A riser. Limbs are black with white tips and has gold writing. Also gold writing on the riser. It still has the original box that is was sold in. Box is styrofoam bottom and wood paterned cardboard top with the label on one end. Not sure the hair rest is original but it old. Hair is falling out of the white colored shelf and has the two tone hair on the side. I think I got it for a decent buy and not interested in selling, but could some of you guys that are experts give me an idea of what she may be worth? Thanks .. Bob H

If its really clean as mentioned it could go for a high as maybe 1,300.00-1,500.00 would be the high side and maybe 900.00-1,000.00 would be a low side.Eather way they are great collecters and great shooters.bd

RSH,

Congrats on your find!

I am a big fan of those as well and mine carries the same specs as yours.  You can easily still get a comparable rest/plate, but I am not sure of the availability of the original calf hair plate, although I am pretty sure it would be easy to make.

Please post some pics of your bow, those bows are always great to look at.

Maybe it's time we start a serial number thread on here for Bear A Risers just to see how many of those originals are still out there and in what configurations.

Good luck with that new bow.

Bernie
