Green K-Mag help
« on: August 20, 2009, 02:51:00 PM »
I killed my first deer in 1976 with my green K-mag with white overlays on handle.I went up to a 55@28" green with blue and green overlays and have been shooting that wgt. for this long but am now wanting to go a little lighter.Tried to trade but bought a new 50@28" with white overlays and greeen tips.My question is the 55 I have is a much darker green than the older one I just got and a more radius shelf. Was the green fiberglass different or some other reason? Not really important just curious.Oh yea the 55 is listed for sale in the class. Thanks Kip

Kip- the green magnums were futurewood and the shading can vary from batch to batch. The shelf configuration could also vary a good bit depending upon the individual who finished the bow and how he/she felt was "right." That's one of the great things about wooden bows from this period; every one of them is unique regardless of the overall "sameness" of the model and year. BTW- Bowdoc will radius that shelf for you so its perfect. See you in Canada,     Grant

Yes Kip little ageing of the finish but the bows were all pretty much the same color and as Grant mentioned finished by hand so maybe a little different grip and maybe a bit different shooting as well. But yes they were all the same bows just different trim pieces.bd

Thanks Grant and bowdoc. That is what I figured also but the limb color is quite diff. much lighter on the older bow.Anyhow the K-mag is not my primary bow anymore just wanted a little lighter one and kinda nostalgia to get a bow just like I killed my first deer with and will maybe try to get another with it this year.Kip

Kip one thought is also Bear Archery did not use a UV blocker in their finish. If one bow had more exposer to the sun what surly make them look really different looking in color ??? bd
