Ian, you are gonna love it. I bought myself a used Nissan 4x4 this year. For the past 10 years I had to depend on a ride or get permission to use the company truck. (Had to clean all the tools out) In years past I went hunting at most 2 tomes a year. This year I've been out 8 or more times already. Season is over where I hunt but I learned a lot about the area and deer habits. I was 10 yards from a buck on the ground one day but he came in behind me and I had to let him walk. Look out next year! You'll love the freedom, but remember, a vehicle is a priviledge and not a right. It comes with alot of responsibility. Use it wisely. Good luck, Mike

I had a '97 Ford Ranger Extended Cab. 2 wheel drive. It had a Mazda motor and trans made right here in Edison NJ at the Ford plant[since closed] The motor had 2 plugs per cylinder. Great little truck bare bones no AC, 5 speed standard tranny. . I put my first set of brakes on her at around 85,000 miles, good on gas too. That truck used to get stuck in the snow alot but it had more dead deer in the back of it then I have hair on my head! I traded it in when I hit around 140,000 The only thing I did to it was universals, brakes, tires, and oil changes. Good luck with her and good hunting.

You will love that truck! I have 178,900 miles on mine with no hiccups.  The engine in those things lasts forever and they hold up really well.  Even when I do get it stuck in holes in the middle of nowhere, it comes out grinning.

Great motivation to get your license! (I didn't get mine till I was 20.)

You did check to make sure it would squall the tires on dry pavement before you bought it didn't you? I wouldn't buy a truck unless it would do great burn-outs and cut a good doughnut in the muddy ditch. Glad you got a truck! Can I drive it?  :goldtooth:

I drove an 87 2wd Ranger for a few years, hated hunting with it though, 2wd pickups on gravel roads aren't very fun.  It really restricted me to where I could go as I didn't want to push it too hard and be stranded.  On March 10 of this year my sweetheart gave the okay to get a new truck.

The truck I always wanted, I love the body style.  2004 Ford Ranger XLT stepside, 4.0 litre 6 cylinder, extra cab with wing doors, cruise, air, tilt, 6 disc mp3/cd player, skid plates, sport bucket seats, came with the canopy.  Only thing I didn't initally like was the carpet, I wanted a rubber floor I could easily hose the mud off of.  Only 30,000 Kilometeres when I bought it, and they included a full warranty until 2010.

I named her Charlene.  I want to get her a brush guard bumper, locking toneau instead of the canopy, and personalized license plates.  Oh and once the waranty is up, 3" lift.

Sorry to hijack your thread, but I really love my truck.  I am sure you will love yours too.
But be sure you live out the message and do not merely listen to it and so deceive yourself - James 1:22
