Hello Guys, Here is something I been putting off for some time.. But now I am back at it.. Last May Wade was nice and sent me a 1959 kodiak.. to copy the outline so I could make a bowform from the outline of the bow..As Wade pointed out to me that the riser block that was sandwiched in between the core wood and glass was a Key to getting a close copy of the riser shape.. Well up today I forgot I had a cut from a riser block from a 59 Kod that my granddad had that blew up on him and at that time I sanded the riser block back down takeing the glass and core wood off ( where it is now I don't know) Anyways I drew the outline of the riser on a thin pine board for later.. Well to make a long story short lets say that my cut looks to me as it fits rite on my outline.. Tomorrow I am going to make a run to a hardware store for wood for a bowform..And since I don't have to be at work at 4am for the next two days I am going to try and get the bowform cutout and I also hope to get a start on glueing up the bow next week if I get time... But Guys I do need some help how ever.. First I need some measurements of how wide the limbs.. At the fade outs mid limb and or the taper of the limbs.. Any of that help would be a big help.. I also plan on once I get one made up I plan on sending it around to you guys to try out and tell me what you all think... Well guys I will stop talking now..LOL
But here are a few pics of the riser outline and outline of the bow.. I am also looking at photos of 59s for help I have a ton saved so you guys dont need to post pics of your bows( Only if you want)'
Best,
Cody
As you can see this riser outline needs to be sanded down as it looks half A$$ed in this photo..lol
