well dont snob up on those bows...some of them are over 20lbs! The reality of it is a 10lb fish on a daily basis is not uncommon, be it char or bow!
And the steelies in the anchor.
The penn is fun, but is quite over run with people come king season, guides and DIY's.
I run a 16' cat and can back bounce or run jets and kwick fish out of it quite well. One thing I'd like is the motor mount for it. But being a charter skipper, freshwater fishing is not available anymore for all but the earliest and very last of the runs spring and fall.
I do believe the forgewood guys are down in Nikiski, somewhere near soldotna. I'm not all familiar with this group or there location so take it for what it is. Call Jack Harrison in palmer/wasilla (not sure what his number is listed under), as he is/was coowner of the mills for it. He should be able to get you into some people down that way stickbow style. I'm sure someone builds strings that can teach.
Really it is super easy. Look up doing the twist, or LBR on here (he's a sponser at
www.recurves.com) Buy his video, doing the twist and you wont be disappointed. Good ole hillbilly from mississippi
