1953 Fred Bear "Cub"

I have a 1953 Fred Bear Cub bow. Graying mftr

30 lbs and 60 Inches long.

Blond wood with bright red fiberglas laminate for front and back of limbs.  1/4" diameter  milky color plastic arrow rests go thru handle.

No major scratches, no twisted limbs, no delaminations.

Can the Bear experts give me an idea of the value of this bow.

They come up all the time on ****. Check out the completed listings. Few on there right now or have been in past few weeks. As with anything else it is worth what 1 person will pay for it.

60"Cubs were 1962-70  In the low weight I'm afraid they don't bring much even for a nice one from what I have seen.

Jack has the years and the price right.

I agree that they aren't a valued item.
 But consider this. About 1970 an off the showroom floor VW Beetle could be had for $1999.00
 So if you have a nice clean one and a child or grandchildren, don't even think about what it's worth. Just pass it on.
 I have 11 grandkids and am always eyes wide open to that kind of value.

Ok, then I assume that the 1953 date is not the date of mftr?

The 1953 date is a patent date that appears on all Bear bows up until 1972 I believe.

 Actually, I saw two cubs today that sound quite similar to the one you have. They were both 1969 models. One was 20# the other 49#. You might be able to date your bow by the serial # also. If your bow was manufactured between 65-69 the first digit of the serial number will be the year of your bow. Such as 9Cxxx for a 1969. A 8Cxxx would be a 1968.

 My cousin owns the 20# Cub and the 49# we saw at a trade show that we attended today together. The owner was asking $70 for it.
