My son works with a fella that just picked up 3 bows for $1 at a yard sale.......One of them was a longbow which was delamin' pretty bad, looked beyond repair I'm told.
One of them was a Bear Red Stag Hunter, I believe it said on it. It is a 58" bow, and say 50/55# on it. I don't get it. Why does it say 50/55#? It doesn't say @28" on it either. It does pull just under 55#. It doesn't look too bad, has green glass on limbs, is a light brown wood with a Bear medalion on it.
The other is a 58" 45# bow and has a decal on it that says...Super Flite Ranger on it. It has green glass front and back and is a darker colored wood. It shoots pretty nice.
The guy is strictly a compound shooter and so is his wife. His wife has had shoulder problems and can't pull the compound anymore. He heard my son talk about his recurve and asked if he knew where he could get a string for the bows. My son told him that I would probably have a couple. The guy thought his wife might be able to shoot the 45# but didn't know. He told my son that if he could get a string for one for his wife to shoot that he could have the other.
Well it just so happens that we've gotta old 66" long 37# bow we got from a guy and fixed up for my wife to shoot. Well she has moved on up and has herself a nice bow now a little heavier. So my son is gonna give that one to the guy and we're gonna keep the other two he got.
I'm fixin' up the 45# right now. Puttin' some True Oil on the riser, and gonna spray yhe limbs with some green.
So...the question is...does anybody know anything about the 2 bows mentioned? Age of the Bear....and anything about the Super Flite bow at all. Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to get the whole story out there for yas.
Thanks for any info....appreciate it.
