Bear Takedown questions.
« on: August 20, 2010, 08:29:00 PM »
OK how would you compare performance and shooting of a B takedown compared to my 1966 kodiak?. Also how do the B risers perform between a original grayling and a greenstripe and a riser built in the 90's ?

The answeres to those questions will be far ranging, based on individual personal opinion.

My opinion is that the '66 Kodiak is a lot better shooting bow than any Bear Takedown.

The original grayling limbs are far superior to the Gainesville limbs.  Lots smoother, better shooting.

I don't see any difference between the greyling risers (wood) and the Gainesville green stripe.  About even.

Personally, I see the B risers as nice collectibles, but the one piece Bears are always better shooters.

Again, just my personal opinion.

from 1965 until 1976 all the bows were about the same design so to speak.1965 Kodiak was the grandfather of the Super Kodiak and the Super Kodiak is actualy the same as a Bear take down so to speak. There is really not a lot of difference between all those models but they are all great shooters.I'd buy one of each bd

not many changes from 1965 however not to say they do not shoot different.I just came in from shooting my B riser which I deerly love. Also shot my 1964 Kodiak near the same draw weight.....the one piecer was shooting good today. One thought is there were many different folks working on many different bows then and they all did their job a little different then the next worker in line so there is a difference in how they shoot bd

I guess I not a consouir of the different models and years of the SuperK and takedowns. I find the newer bows shoot better than my '72' Super K at the same weight. Guess I am missing something here.

Well I'm wanting a Bear takedown bow and since I've never shot one or touched one I thought I would ask opinions. I'm going with Bowdocs suggestion and buy one of each. Now I just need a stack of 100 dollar bills .

Remember, you are getting personal opinions, and they will be very biased, like mine.  What is important is "what do you like"

My suggestion is not to buy any bow until you have had the chance to shoot it, feel it, caress it, and make sure it is right for you, regardless of what any of us say.
