expect to pay $400-500 for just the riser.

I bought one for $320.00 a few months ago. That was e-Bay. I thought I got a good deal. That did not include limbs.

What Michael said, and then the condition comes into it.  There will be a difference between one the is in say "mint condition" and one that has been "rode hard and put up wet".

Next is the weight of the green tip limbsm and the condition.  Ultra light or ultra high weights are hard to come by.  Limbs from 50 to 60# are about the average.

Past that there are a few other considerations such as if it was signed by Fred Bear, Frank Scott, or some others.  A good signature can really push the price up.  I had one at one time that had gold clamps.  It was a very uncommon one that you just don't see every day.

I just sold a signed one to a guy with 55# limbs, and traded an unsigned one with 70# limbs to another guy.

One thing you can do is go to e8ay and search for one in the completed items section to see what they have sold for.

Are they worth it as shooters?  Go see what a new Bear  custom takedown is going for nowadays.

Hope this helps a bit, although I did not give you an exact answer.

I guess, bottem line is, "what is it worth to you"?

Thanks for the  Info ! Ihave a set of green tip limbs already 50 # I heard alot of people refer to them as dogs. Call me crazy but I think that they should be teamed up with the proper riser . There is one on the auction site claimed to be NOS in wrapper but the guy whats buy now of 650+. I think "for myself" thats high

If it is in Brand new condition, that may be a realistic price considering "collectors value".  What you want is a shooter.  Bide your time and you can find one in leass than perfect condition at a lower price.

Send the quy a message asking if he will take lower if it does not sell.  Ya never know.

green tips were built for and should have if you need the speed a FF string. That may be one reason some folks call them dogs.FF makes a bit more noise then a flemish string will on green tips but braced at 7 1/4- 7 1/2 they will gain 4-8 FPS with low brace and FF bd

I double checked my limbs and they are actually 60# not 50 as I stated earlier I bought them to use with my early 90's riser but they wont seat right , the hole doesnt match the screw because they are a little wider and longer than my early 90's limbs . I just felt it would be better  to match them with the correct year riser . Thanks for the info Doc I would never have believed the green tips were fast flight limbs . but 4-8 fps is not a lot of gain for the trade off ,"just my opinion "

Learn something every day.  I did not know green tips were fastflight compatible.

Matter of fact, I thought the green tips came out in the early 80's (I think) and there was no such thing as fastflight strings (again...I think)  :dunno:

I recently paid $600.00 for a green-stripe riser in the original box with paperwork. No limbs. The riser is literally "mint" and looks like it was never shot.Beautiful coloring too.It was a bit more than I had hoped to pay for one,but I believe their value has gone up a bit over the years. As others have said, check the prices on a brand new one.I don't think they're anywhere near as pretty as an early green striper,IMHO.Considering the condition of mine,in the original box,I am happy with it.I put my new set of Rose Oak/Brandon Stahl limbs on it and boy is it pretty.Another plus is that the riser section is slimmed down quite a bit from the early Grayling risers and the arrow shelf is much lower, more like Fred Bear's personal bow. They really feel good in the hand, again just my opinion.Good luck in your search.

I was reading the input from Bowdoc. I just want to say he is right on as I hunt with him and use FF on my green tips 55#. You see what he is saying is that the limbs have a hard future wood laminate tip that is like iron. The core is maple not fast core. I would like to add that there are 3 types of Green tip limbs and they are not all the same. 1. Marcata wedge maple core tapered
2. Marcata wedge maple core parallel
3. Wood wedge(matches the tiger riseer) maple core stained
Having the correct riser also helps as they are not all the same either, this is why some limbs fit well others do not.

I use the early green stripe ( multi color maple riser early 80's) and the first set of green tips maple core tapered.
