I can't tell you how much I enjoy reading everyone's post about their hunting adventures, and thought it's only right I return the favor and let you know about a wonderful hunt I had this Holiday Season.
This year Louisiana legalized the use of stone points for hunting. Several of my hunting companions and I deceided to take up the challenge and attempt to take a deer with such equipment, and Christmas Eve, I was presented with a great opportunity. At 8:00am on the 24th, a beautiful doe presented to me broadside at 12yds. A midchest shot from a new selfbow I had made this summer along with a homemade cedar arrow tipped with a fine point from Tex Holloway ended in a 50yd dash and 10 seconds later a wonderful Christmas gift.
I've never had the chance to draw back on, much less take a large buck whitetail, but for me, this girl is a trophy I will long treasure. (Second deer with a selfbow, first with a stone point.)
Here's hoping your Holidays were just as Sweet. Best to all of you in the comming year.
Here is a shot of the point Tex Holloway made for the occassion. Unfortunately it broke off of the shaft when she ran through some trees and we could not find it.
