Factory Camo K-mag
« on: September 15, 2010, 04:45:00 PM »
I just picked up A k-mag that was painted black. I started to strip off the black paint and found camo paint underneath. It was coming off with the black. It wasn't until I got to where the decals were that I realized it was factory camo, but it was too late to save it. What type camo paint did Bear use in 1967 and has anyone every repainted to original factory camo. I also lost all the specs on handle, but it's marked 38# under stike plate.

I had same experience with a '69 Super Kodiak.  Factory camo and retouched up over it.  I wound up stripping and refinishing it completely and not bothering with camo paint.

I tried to find some paint to touch up a couple I had but couldn't find an exact match. I ended up removing the camo from both of them. I lucked out on one as it was a finished bow underneath. The other one I haven't gotten around to applying new silkscreens and refinishing yet.
