Bear Grayling Brown Tip Takedown Limbs
« on: September 17, 2010, 12:29:00 PM »
I have heard of grayling take down limbs with white, red and blue tips but not brown tips. I have a pair of brown tip Grayling take down limbs and was wondering if anyone knew what year or years these were made.

Thanks, Mike S.

You might note too that they are shaped like the red tips, and carry a 1B serial number.

Interesting to say the least.

Thanks for adding the pictures Kenny.

I thought they might be red tips that lost ita color?

Thanks for posting, very interesting. These are not standard limbs to my knowledge. I'm guessing a Bear employee probably made these for himself.

I say those are faded blue tips. Although I do not have any blue tips now I seem to recall the serial numbers are very very similar. Thats my guess

I think Bearbowman just solved the puzzle. Look at item 190441862879 on the Bay. They are blue tips that show a lot of brown.

Serial number 3B-01182

Yea, those blue tips look the same. I have looked at these very close and cannot find a trace of blue anywhere. Perhaps someone refinished these and removed the blue? It doesn’t matter if they are brown or blue they still shoot great on my A mag riser.

I think Steve may have nailed it....faded blue tip overlays + oxidized yellow finish.
There are also a good many sets of later Bear limbs built after 1978 until about 1981 those had one peace green actionwood tip overlays. They did not have green laminated actionwood overlays = faded green + yellow oxidized finish = almost a blue-ish purple colored looking overlay.
Now with all that said to answer your ? Mike.Yes there are actually some Bear Archery limbs that have real brown tip overlays. The limbs normally had a yellowish mustard colored fiberglass with yes brown tip overlays. But I have seen the brown tip overlays on white fiberglass limbs as well bd
