Kodiak Special Deluxe
« on: September 19, 2010, 05:48:00 PM »
I found one on the ???? site and just purchased it. It should arrive sometime within the next week. From looking at the pictures, it looks to be in excellent condition.

Does anyone have any experience with these bows ??? I know that they were only built one year.....and have heard that there were some "issues" with the finish, I believe it had to do with the clear glass but not sure.

It says that it was "refinished"......which is fine because from the pics it looks like they did a pretty fine job on it. Here are a few pictures. She is 68" and 44# @ 28". It will come with the original bow case that came with it from the factory.

44# at my draw length should be plenty to hunt with. Specially since it's only been white-tails so far.

I'm gonna have to get a string for it.....hopefully before it arrives.

Nice one Don! I have one 66" 42# I got from the auction site last winter. I've never strung it let alone shot it.

Jack........I don't think that I would have that kind of "control". Dang, when I see a bow that I haven't shot before, it just speaks to me.

With it having been refinished, it wouldn't be worth much to a collector, but if I can shoot her well (and I'm guessing that I will be able to) I'd love to take my first traditional deer with either this one, or my '60 Kodiak Special.

Thanks guys !!!!!!

I have been "watching" it for the past several days. I almost made an offer on it 3 days ago, but didn't want to until I sold a bow to help fund it. I sold the bow......made an offer and he accepted it.

Now, it's gonna be hangin' on my rack, and hopefully be taking "walks" with me this fall.

For what it is worth I have shot mine many times. If it has been here for 50 years already it will likely last a few more.

Ron I think this one is a Deluxe, isn't it? When I saw yours I made 3 offers on this one. He didn't accept mine.

Gil V this one is a Kodiak special deluxe made in lengths from 62" to 70" I think the specials were directed toward the target archers. The Kodiak deluxe was 60" amo and was touted as the king of hunting bows in thier catalog. The deluxes were only made the one year 1960. The kodiak specials had colored glass and were made 1955 thru 1967. Ron.

Gil V , I should have added that the 1960 Kodiak Deluxe was made in 56"  60" and 64" for longer draws.

Winterhawk, she is a beauty!  I have a 66" #45 @ 28" that could be a twin to your new one.  I have a feather rest on her and she shoots well, nice and smooth.  Enjoy her.

Serious addiction, brother Don. Pretty bow, have to bring that if you shoot at ATAR next year.
The essence of the hunt for me is to enter nature and observe+ return safely occasionally with the gift of a life taken.
