Bear Recurve with small dots on limbs?

Hey folks,

New to site.  I have a Bear Kodiak recurve, 60", 45#.  I believe it is from the 70's.  It is the one with green limbs and green stained wood in the riser.  I have been shooting this bow regularly for the past few months and the limbs are developing small white dots in the finish.  I don't think it is the fiberglass itself.  It looks like the finish is starting to seperate. Any thoughts?  Is this a safety problem? And if I do need to fix it, is it a matter of sanding down the bow and applying a new finish? By the way, the way the dots are pin head sized and circular.  It almost looks like white dust.

I can't say exactly for sure what the white dots are but I can say that it is very common with the green glass on the 70's Kodiak Hunters and Kodiak Magnums.

It shouldn't be a problem at all, other than cosmetic.

I am sure that someone will come along with better answers.

Most all of the older Bear bows get that with use. You can refinish it or just keep a good coat of Johnson & Johnson paste wax on it. Keep using the bow! It more than likely will be around when your not. Hope you get something with it!

Thanks for the info.  I will keep shooting the bow.  Once it gets bad or I have a spare moment, I will try my hand at refinishing it.  Thanks again.
