Just bought my 1st Trad Bow
« on: December 12, 2010, 05:29:00 PM »
I've owned a few in the past but never really put the time into it that I should.  After watching a buddy of mine pick up the longbow and kill some deer this year, I figured it was definitely time to get started.  I bought a 50lb Howatt Monterey from PAPALAPPIN.  I'm just now ordering arrows and going to start the process of tuning and learning the ropes.  I have a very little bit of experience with trad bows and am keeping my first groups within a paper plate from 5-20 yards.  I'm pretty pumped up!

I told  Etter to post here.  He bought a mid '60's Monterey and it is definitely a collectible.

Etter, feel free to jump in here any time you have any questions.

Thanks Jack.  I think I've got the brace height worked out now and ordered a custom string, knocks, silencers, target points, a bow stringer, etc.  Still waiting to hear back from big jim bow Co. about arrows.  Definitely gonna be a shooter when I get it all worked out.  I'm PUMPED!!

Yes, If you can get some pictures up of your new bow. I would like to know what a 60's Monterey looks like.
