Yeah, doc, I found a problem on one of my mag risers recently. Had never put a set of limbs on it in the 8 or 10 years since I got it. It had been refinished when I got it-nice enough krackel finish job, but he got too much paint in one socket and the limb wouldn't seat over that locator screw. It doesn't take much to keep the limb from seating. Turned out one of the limb bracket screw holes was also stripped out on that end as well...and that screw won't hold under pressure. I'm guessing someone torqued it while forcing a limb into that end and the threads gave way.....so they sold it to me! Wondering the best way to repair the threads in that magnesium. I can get small brass inserts but will never find a blued, pan head screw that will look original and fit those threads. So, how about filling the stripped hole with JB Weld and retapping it? Do you know the spec on those original screws? And who might have a couple?
