saw a bow the other day made by a john schulz
74# bamboo backed
sorry dont know other material but no glass...
nice looking bow
called  "grandpa"
anyone know anything about this bow or maker?

He built bows for Howard Hill as I recall.

One of the top bowmakers of all time. He has been at it for many years getting his start with Howard Hill,and then making bows under his own name and the American Longbow name.He has been retired for many years now. He has books and videos about Howards/His shooting style,Top notch man and bow. Do a search and you will find much.

He made some really heavy bows if I recall correctly. like 100# range.

Schultz's Grandpa bows were all wood laminated without glass.  They were usually all Bamboo but he did make a laminated Yew & Osage version.  Those are much rarer as he developed a hypersensitivity to those woods.  Most were high poundage bows although I do have a 53# Bamboo Grandpa plus an all Yew one too...Jeff
