1962 Kodiak Special
« on: February 20, 2011, 01:13:00 PM »
I have looked for one of these for years. Most often to pricey or the condition was poor. My friend Gene Schwer of Santiago Archers headed me in the direction of this one and now I'm a Happy Owner of a Very Clean 62 Kodiak Special....

I picked one up a few months ago but had to refinish it. The finish was gone, but looks great now next to my 62 Kodiak and 62 K-mag. You got a nice origanal bow!!

Wow, that's all I can say!  Have searched for old bows for a very long time, but can't remember ever having come across a '62 KS! Quite a few '61s though, so I kinda figured Bear overdid it that year and laid off when making the 62s!

Yours is really gorgeous, too.  Considering the three rosewood models, and the gray glass on the other two....it surely must be the prettiest year for Kodiaks!

I have the same bow in a 69" 40 # . Mine  "believe it or not" was used for hunting . The original owner put something(paint or shoe polish) on the limbs to camo it and it left shadowing, also one small hole right below the shelf on the face of the bow for what I suspect was an arrow holder. I cant imagine toting a 69" bow in the woods ! cant complain though it was given to me from the original owner with the original bow sock.
I love the rosewood it makes a beautiful bow!
Congratulations on your find
Dean

Thanks Guy's! When I heard what this guy had I was thinking, Yeah Right, and then when I had it in my hand all I could think is this is way better then any I have looked at in the past and I want it. I'm Very Pleased. I have always though the KS's were some of the sweeter of the Bear line.

Okay Larry and Jack since you are hoarding 62 KS's then I am taking you both off the list as first and second in line for the 60 Kodiak twins until you come up with one for me too.

Oh and don't forget it has to be 66 inches and cost me 66 bucks.   :bigsmyl:

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42
