Bows I'd like to shoot....

I have owned over 30 different custom and factory recurves/longbows, but there's a bunch of older bows i would love to shoot that I have never had the chance to get to test drive: 59' kodiak, 62' kodiak, 64' kodiak, 67'-70's kodiak hunter, and I'm sure a dozen or so more i don't even know about.

would love to have them all in a line up for me to play with

I've heard so much about the Savage Deathmaster ...and it's one I would sure like to shoot.

For me it would be a Harry Drake,Howard Hill and Nelson Grumley(I have shot original Grumley's but sure wood like to do it again).

Chuck , I figured i would start out "small"  and work my way to the rare ....would love have all those on a rack ...drakes and old Damon /howatts wouldn't be bad to test drive either..AALLFAB...would love to ,perfect weights for me.

never been, but you have sweetened the pot....not that the Rockies, trout fishing , elk hunting, etc...needed sweetening.

I have had three compounds and a host of longbows and recurves....but ones I have never shot more than one or two arrows and would like to hunt or shoot more are:

- Dean Torges bamboo backed osage selfbow
- Norm Johnson Blacktail Elite
- Paul Schafer original Silvertip
- Browning Firedrake
- Red Wing Hunter
- Fred Anderson Skookum Longbow

I am right west of Denver 10 minutes and then ten more minutes to the mountains. Plan a trip one day in the city area and 6 more in the mountains. Jim

Kuch, you can find lots of reading material on the Deathmaster by Bob Savage if you do a search here or on Google.  It seems a lot of the ole timers have lots of respect for the bow's performance and looks. I believe even the BD has given it kudos too.

I want to shoot them all! I would be exceptionally pleased to shoot a 64K, 55 to 60 lb. I would also like to see what a 70lb KH is capable of. at the top of my list would be be any Jack Howard bow. I never even touched one.

Them are my rare birds indeed Chad, I will side with the other Chuck D on this,I want to shoot them all. It is hard to get to try bows when you are vending at a show,if you do get outta the booth some of the other makers give you funny looks,I just love to shoot different bows.
 If you ever head to Jims stop and fetch me(if he will have me     ),He has a great collection. I am sure all of the bows listed so far are on his rack.maybe with the exception of the Hill. Did you ever get one Jim?

bd did give them two thumbs up good looking hard hitting bow.But I'am going to go out on a limb again..... and I was thinking Bob's bows was taken of another bows form like a shakespeare maybe ? or something along those lines ???? help me out here someone knows for sure bd

Bowdoc, the Bob Savage bows were supposedly similar to the Shakespeare Necedah, but some folks poo-poo that claim.  

It is also said that Paul Schafer learned much of his craft from Bob before making the famous Silvertip.  

Many say the Deathmasters are still out there to be had, but the bows in the heavier weights are mostly found (those over 65# anyway).
