76er upgraded limbs
« on: April 23, 2011, 07:26:00 PM »
Let's try this again. The rain is back. my son and I were shooting our 76ers earlier. We both commented on how well these bows shoot and perform when tuned. We have 6 strand padded loop fast flight strings and .600s and microflight #8 shoot like darts. I was wondering why no one has made an up graded limb for these risers. the bows are cheap to buy , fun and easy to refinish, shoot great but lets face it the limbs have plastic tips and have a little shock to them. I think an "aftermarket" limb could make these bows the "super sleepers"...got your cheap original limbs for bowfishing and fancy customs for the 3d....for way less than a Bear T/D..all about options. Any one tinkered with these?

Heard someone kick around the idea of modifying "cheap" ilf limbs to fit. Were the max poundage on the originals 55#@28'? pretty stout for that riser...

I guess the 76er was just a color variation of the Minuteman. The old catalogs show 50# max for a couple of years and 55# in 1976. I never had one, heard they shot pretty good. Would be interesting to modify some ILF limbs to that bow.

I have 2 Warfs (3 more on the way:) made on the mini-mag riser, setup to take ILF limbs

I think it is the same riser as the minuteman,

pretty simple limb base design. I am no bowyer ...but way simpler than the limb wedges for the latch system. The minuteman limbs I believe are maple laminate but the 76er are just fiberglass. I'm thinking a nice static tip bamboo core at 50 # would do nicely.....

The minuteman and 76er risers are slightly different and not interchangeable.....don't know why Bear felt the need to make such a subtle change

not much demand for after market limbs on the MM but heck maybe if someone made up a set or two that was reasonably priced they may sell a few sets of them. Most bear after market limbs run from 400.00 up to over 650.00 because of the wedges.I bet a guy could do the MM limbs for a bit cheaper with a bingham type kit bd
