Bear Riser Help.
« on: May 27, 2011, 01:38:00 PM »
I am looking for a riser like the one that was sold in this auction: 190529618841

I do not know if the riser was a compound riser or a recurve riser but I would like to find one. I have an odd-ball set of Bear Limbs that appear that they would work on that style of riser (note the radiused casting in the limb pocket and threaded bolt hole).

Thanks Guys!

The riser in that ad is a compound riser. It is the target model as my 1977 Bear Alaskan hunting model has a riser that is 19" and black.  Below is pictured the 1977 model with the speed brackets. The previous years did not have the brackets but the riser was the same. The seller states that he aquired several of these risers. Perhaps ask him?

I already asked him and he won't reply.

Thanks for the picture. Does your Bear Alaskan have the same casting in the limb pocket?

THANKS!

I'm sure it does, but I haven't had the limbs off the riser in a long time!

HAHA. Gotcha. Thanks for the help.

I guess I am off to look for a Tamerlane or Alaskan Compound from those years!

I acquired a weird set of Bear TD recurve limbs that appear that they would bolt onto that riser in the auction. They have the same logo as the normal Bear Limbs but use a bolt style fastening system. They have weird tip overlays and a plastic plate on them to accept the radius casting in the limb pocket. Oh yea, they are signed also....

Nick, I have an old Bear Alaskan compound.  If you think you can use anything on it,  I'll ship it your way.

Shick,
If you can check and see if the limb pockets have the casting I would appreciate it. Thanks! Nick

Nick, Just got home.  I don't have the speed brackets, but a side plate.  I'll have to take it off to see for the radiused pocket.

Shick, Sounds Great. I don't need the speed brackets, so that isn't a problem. Let me know what you find! Thanks, Nick

Anyone else have any other older Bear Risers with a similiar casting. If you do can you provide me with the width of the radiused casting at the end of the limb pocket and the distance between the center of the casting and the center of the limb bolt?

I got the Alaskan handle from shick (Thanks Again Shick) and it won't work.

I have an old Bear Temujin II that looks somewhat similar to the pics posted but I can no longer see the original auction listing. Anyhow, the pocket radius is 1.760" wide, diameter is .750" and bolt distance is approximately 2.5". Bolt slot width is .450" and riser length is 21.625" from center of pockets.
