"Classic Shoot" at Denton
« on: July 23, 2011, 09:09:00 AM »
Anyone open to having a "classic" shoot at Denton?  It's pretty popular at ATAR.

Someone would have to set some ground rules for the age of the bow........something like pre-1980 or even later.  If it was up to me, I would say pre-1972, but I'd be showing my age for sure!

It's always a blast to have a bunch of folks together, all shooting old bows.  Actually, for the most part, I'm pretty much only shooting classic bows this year at Denton.....well, except for one particular Dale Dye.

Don't want to conflict with any other get together shoots.

I'll bring an early 60s Howatt Hunter. That should qualify.

Bill and Richard - two perfect bows for a classic shoot.  Bill - I love that purpleheart I Beam 61.  Rare as hen's teeth.  Richard - don't let Rich see that Howatt.....pretty sweet rosewood.

Chad - those A handles will fit right in.  Kenny - looking forward to seeing that A Mag (you selling or showing it off?).

Roust up some of the other collectors out there.......we'll have a blast.

I'll shoot either my 60 or 62 Kodiak, since I'm bringing both.

Anyone got a preference for day and time?

White Knight aged to a nice Caramel color.
#1's 46# I think.

If an offer comes along I can't refuse I might sell.

Tony,

Here is what I am bringing, 3 will be for sale and one for whip to look at.  They all should fit the bill.

58 Bear Grizzly
50's Black Hawk Wasp
67 Kodiak Hunter

55 K-special

the K-Special is my wife's bow and not for Sale. I would like it refinished.

I would probably shoot the Griz since it is the all ready set to go. If I can make this one I will.

Oh I have a 63 K-Special if any one is interested.  FWI it's broken the cherry end cap had a glue line failure, the rest of the bow is in immaculate condition.
Relax,

What's the time and place for this one?  I'll have a couple along that will qualify.  A '62 Kodiak that I just refinished, or a brand spanking new to me Gamemaster Jet.  Somebody find me in the booth and let me know where to be.

I know Charlie won't be there until Saturday morning, so why don't we plan on doing the shoot after lunch on Saturday.  First Denton for Charlie and I know he'll be like a kid in a candy store at the dealer tents in the morning.

Joe - can't wait to see your 62 K.....my favorite bow of all time.  Kenny - that is one SWEET AMag...fantastic job!

We can all meet around Roman's booth (Hill Country Bows) about 12:00.  Hopefully Roman will be at the end of the tent like he was last year.  The time frame should be good to work off some lunch.

If anyone has a better idea, post it.....or if you have a conflict, I'm sure we can be flexible.  Keep in mind that some of us are serious bow vultures, so if you have a better time, make sure we can get done BEFORE the trade blanket.

I'll bring a camera along..........but I brought one along on a shoot at BBTC with Kathy (killdeer) and never took a single photo!  I promise I'll try to focus on getting shots of each classic bow in action.

Don't hold up the show for me, I'm not sure when I will get there.

Correction to an earlier post, my broken bow is a Kodiak Special, and its spoken for.

I will be shooting my 58 Grizzly if I can make the shoot.

Ken did find a nice bunch of old bows! saw em today, perhaps some of you guys could help age them.

The Tradgang shoot is usually after lunch on Saturday. Could we do it around 10 am?
