Zebrawood. What year/model Bear bows had it?
« on: September 14, 2011, 09:07:00 PM »
A buddy bought a zebrawood Tigercat and it had me looking around at all the Bear bows in Zebrawood and found quite a few.

Is there a list of all Bear bows with all Zebrawood risers?

and the years, lengths, etc??

God Bless

Not sure there is a list Steve.  I have definitely seen some nice looking Tigercats in zebrawood but I don't know the years.

1964 and 1965 Grizzly also.  58" AMO.

I am not much use outside of Grizzlies.

I have a Bear Tigercat in zebrawood.  It's 62" long and 36#.  I believe it is from 1969, maybe someone can confirm that.  The serial number is 8N4979.  It has black glass.  This is a bow my brother and I shot as kids and my kids will be shooting it in a few more years.  It's fun to see these older bows being used.

Interesting thing on the Tigercat is I just saw one with a 7 prefix and the one my friend has has an 8 prefix but Ive seen 7 prefix ones that were NOT zebrawood..........one of the reasons I asked. Think the info on Al's page or some list my friend has says the 67s only and he didnt believe me when I found the 68 till it got here.

JJB, yours appears to be a 1968 as well.

NEAT BOWS GUYS and Thanks!

The tigercats and some other "lower" end bows were made from random pieces of wood and random colored glass. So there are all different types of possiblities for different years.

I once owned a '65 Cub with beautiful Zebrawood, and of course that great 1962 Grizzly had it in the sight window.

As a note, it appears that the mid 60's was a favorite time for many to use Zebrawood.  I have owned Ben Pearsons and Shakespeares from that era with that greatly figured wood and know of others using it also.

Wow....some very nice bows in the pics here.

Steve,
I think the catalogs read "Various Hardwoods" or something to that effect for the Tigercat in some years.  This supports OldSkoolArcher's comments.

Not sure if this one got listed and I missed it, but here is a pic to add anyway. I have two of these 63 Polars, both 66 inches, one left handed and the other right.

DDave
I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42
