Cliff - I'm sorry, your answer to Question #11 is incorrect.

Question #11 was...

Fred's 1956 Grizzly (score 17-10/16) was not a World Record at the time it was killed as these two previous animals were both larger...

1920 - 24-14/16 - Art Young
1920 - 20-00/16 - Saxton Pope

Mastrangel's 1956 Grizzly scored between Pope's & Young's  

1956 - 24-9/16 - Bob Mastrangel

Even Fred's second Grizzly in the Record Book was not as large as Young's, nor Mastrangel's.

1961 - 20-1/16 - Fred Bear

I'm certain you will figure out the correct answer to Question #11...

Was this a guess, or do you know of such an event? If so please cite the year and the publication where the event was documented (unless of course you were there and this is just an eyewitness testimony you have never mentioned before).     :eek:

Wade- My answer to #6 was a guess.I seem to remember reading about the two animals with one arrow I just can't recall where I read it.I thought maybe it was in Munger's book.I looked through it a bit last night trying to find it but didn't.I will need to keep trying evidently.

I wasn't counting them.  They weren't taken on a hunt meeting P&Y's "fair chase" clause, they were killed under a special collection permit in a Federal Park for habituated bears and didn't meet "In complete compliance with the controlling state/provincial hunting regulations."  The permit allowed them to operate outside the hunting regulations enforced upon everyone else.  

Fred Bear and Mastrangle's grizzlies meet P&Y entry standards.

Do you believe Pope and Young's grizzlies meet the Club Standards?

Why is it this subject is such a taboo to discuss in public?  

I don't believe correcting the information in any way "tarnishes" the image of Pope and Young, but do believe it an injustice to continue to perpetuate inaccuracies.

I'm smart enough not to bite on that subject. The P&Y Club can decide what meets their standards and what doesn't.

Lucas - Sorry your answer is not correct.

Fred's 1945 Canada Moose was the World Record from the inception of the P&Y Club until 1965 when a larger animal of this species was recorded.

Check the entries in the 1975, First Edition P&Y Record Book for a grasp on the earliest entries  that were recorded.  

Knowing what we know today, your answer is an excellent one when one considers later Record Books and the fact that a later entry sheds a different light on this matter.
