Picked up a few interesting JH items

 

I'll get some better pics in the daylight these were taken indoors.
The bow at the top is a 65#
The middle bow is 57# and physically weighs less than half of the other two-due to the maple riser.
The bottom bow is 54# and has a patch of old glue on the riser about the size of a cow pie. Seems it was there to hold down one of those rubber arrow holders.

There is a cap a spool of Jack's secret bow string material, a cap and Jack's collection of hardware for quiver attachment.

Kelly I was trying to trade the top bow but alas someone made me an offer for it instead. I will get you some serial numbers shortly;
the numbers on the 65# bow are tough to read. It has black glass on the back.

All Jets, except only a few had black glass on back, white glass on front.

Thanks in advance for the serial numbers and other info. The serial numbers should start with an F- and then 3 digit numbers.

Can you figure out or does anyone know what Jacks string material is. jim

It is called Vee fiber. I have a large spool of it. When I googled all the numbers on the bottom of the spool nothing came up

The serial numbers: 65# F 372 this one was very hard to read. Brown ink on brown wood.
The green bow 57# 698 and the bottom one 54#  429.
I have heard that Charlie Lamb knows the ins and outs of the string stuff.

F-372 would be from mid 1970's. I used to own F-373 which is 66#.

F-429 would be from late 1970's like 77 or 78.

F-698 is from 1986 or so. F-626 I know is from March 26, 1985 because the owner has that date on written on the warranty card/receipt. F-773, F-774 and F-776 are all from July 1989.

Just an FYI, Jack would build bows in 2 batches per year. When a batch was totally complete he would ship them all at once. Those two shipment months were March and July. Of the close to 100 Jets I now have serial numbers of the vast majority of those I have concrete dates of have been from the July shipping. Don't really think that means much-just a coincidence right now.

Just a heads up.  Charlie Lamb has a good supply of Jack's string material.  He was authorized to make them for Jack's bows before Jack passed away.  He can make stings for your Jets, Classics, and original Gamemasters.  You can contact him here on TradGang.

Does that cap have a silkscreen logo or is it embroideried.  The silkscreen ones Jack had done in California.  I had the embroidried ones done for him here in GA.  If it is embroideried, take care of it,  I only had about 2 dozen made as I recall.

Anybody know about the green bows? The riser shape and limb shapes are identical to the Jets; but the physical weight is maybe half-the riser is not the exotic hardwoods JH used. There is a little area of paint chipped on the riser............the wood underneath looks like Maple.

Yep, the camo version had a sold maple handle with no glass white stripes either so that is where the weight difference is. Otherwise it is identical in shape/design to the fancy Jet.
