Help Identify This Old Bear Grizzly. HS?
« on: December 21, 2011, 10:33:00 PM »
Hey folks. I have this old bear grizzly that I've had for a while and am looking for some info on it. My I.D. skills have gotten rusty and don't know where to look for information anymore so I am bringing it to you. My biggest question is: WHAT IS THE H.S.??? Also maybe year. Thanks, -Tim

I suspect HS is someone's initials, That is a 1954-don't know why the glass is so reddish-maybe just my screen. Glass color should be blondish. We can't talk prices here-go look at closed auctions on ebat. Nice bow!

I figured it was a 54. The glass really is that red, like a blood red. Sorry about the price thing, I didn't know. I'll edit that out if I can.

Do you think it is all original? Is the initials something they did?

I believe the glass color is correct on that bow for that year. With the larger standing bear decal the bow is a 1954,the blonde colored glass was last found on the 1952 Grizzly I believe.'53 has the same orangeish/red glass as this one with the small running bear decal. As Bjorn said,I believe the initials were placed on the bow at some time by the owner,I doubt the it was done at the factory.

The Grizzlies had the same color glass as the Kodiaks, year for year. The 1954 Grizzlies I have had-don't collect them any more............had blonde glass; but there may well have been anomalies.
