My 12-year-old granddaughter wants to give archery a try, so I'm going to get her going.
Her father, who is not an archer, has an old bow from his youth that looks about perfect: American Archery is the maker of his 60", 25# bow.
My question, though, is about the string. It's the one my son-in-law used in his youth. It's in good shape. But, when strung, the brace height is 9.5". Never heard of anything that high.
Can that be the right string? Can that high brace height threaten the bow's integrity or, more important, bow safety?
