1963 Bears??
« on: December 29, 2011, 05:45:00 PM »
Now I am not a collector (yet) but have always been an admirer of old bear bows.  I always thought it would be cool to own/shoot/hunt with a bow that is my age.  So I have been looking around a little bit for a little while and just haven't seen much for 1963s.  Are they scarce?  What would be a good model to look at and shoot and hunt with?  Any special place I should be looking?  Thanks for any advice.

I would opt for the '63 Kodiak dogleg although they are not too plentiful. People seem to hold on to them. Be prepared to shell out $350-400 for one though. Keep your eye out on the auction site and here.

Serial # on the '63's seem random to me and if you find one beginning with a "3", it's just luck.

I agree with those who praise them for how they shoot.  (If they praise their looks, I'll keep my comments to my self.)

Wow, that is quite the line up.  After seeing that I am almost afraid to start with Bears, it is obviously addicting.

Now I see why you never see one for sale.

Nick, that's an impressive lineup.

All this talk forced me to action.  Highly under rated in performance.  If we get a snow before the season's out I think I will hit the woods with this gem.

These are the first six shots taken with this bow in over 6 months

48# 62" Type 2 Dogleg Grizzly.  If it weren't for mint green limbs this bow would be a hunting machine...nothing skins can't solve.

Great pics Nick and Jack!!

This is really creating an itch for me to find a Kodiak and Type 1 Grizzly.

I'll let you guys fight over the K-Mags...
