Mystery takedown

I've got an old solid fiberglass two piece bow. The only markings I can find are engraved on the end of the limbs where they enter the grip and are marked 50@28. It measures at 64". The grip riser is leather covered steel. I havn't shot it yet but it seems to draw very smoothly. Any ideas who made this bow and the approximate date?

Made by ben Pearson. I have seen them in green also. Want to say early sixties.

Yup Pearson. They came in glass and wood/glass laminated bows. Howard Hill did some endorsements and ads for that particular bow. I have a flyer around here somewhere.

I was told that some or all of those Pearson fibreglass takedowns were glass fibre wound around a wood core.  Does anyone know the facts on that?  Doesn't sound logical to me. I have shot a few of them.  Harsh, but better performers than any other all glass bows I tried.

Just looking at the ones I have they are a solid fiberglass design, don't see any wood core. Pearson collectors like them.

Well your post got me to investagate a little further. It looks like on this bow at least the grip area of the bow does have some kind of wood core. Don't know if it extends into the limbs or not. Photo

As far as I know they were maple core completely covered in glass. A buddy of mine had several,mostly maple with woven glass back and belly, both longbow and recurve. The solid glass covered ones were longbows only, dating from the late 50's. Actually pretty good shooters, and a close relative to Pearson's legendary Bushmaster.
