Bear Tape On Quiver Question
« on: March 30, 2012, 01:44:00 PM »
I just picked up a Big River '59 Kodiak copy and am getting an era appropriate Bear Leather Top tape on quiver. For those of you that use this type quiver, what method of attaching it to the bow have you found to work best without harming the finish? Thanks.

I have cut a piece of high density foam to fit under the brackets(they made need to be bent to match the limb) then used 4 or 5 "O" rings to hold it in place. The foam pushes back againest the "O" rings. The "O" rings can just be rolled up and the quiver removed and the rings stay on the limb. Get the thicker "O" rings and work the roll tension out of them so they will stay and not crawl.
I have also used clear plastic wrap folded over to the same width as the quiver bracket and do a few wraps stretched around the limb and then stretch wrapped around the quiver brackets. You can tuck the end, use a wrap of tape(camo if you have it), or a rubber band- which will dissolve if in the sun.

Thanks raghorn

Has anyone tried using the straps from a Great Northern quiver or some other type of rubber strap?

That can be done but you will have to drill a hole in the bracket for a pin of some sort to hold the strap ends. Or you can just use a strip of inner tube and tuck the end.

Charlie, Will do. I have one coming from a TG'er to try.  I have a spring arm leather top on my 66 Kodiak and will try that as well.
