For the Love of Old Grizzly's
« on: March 31, 2012, 03:13:00 PM »
I just Love the Old Grizzly line up.

Here is my newest.  It is close to the bow I started hunting with when I was 12. This is a 68, the one I started with is a 69.  My little brother broke the 69 which caused me to be lead astray with the wheels for roughly 12-15 years.  I was pleased when I found this bow for only 50 bucks at auction.  The wood is awesome.  There are a few holes that I will overlook for the time but will eventually fill.

There are blonde spots in this riser that just are incredible.  Oh and it shoots great also! I wish the pictures did this bow justice.

I recently had a 67 Grizzly that I loved also, but traded it since this newer bow is closer to the bow I started out 25 years ago with.  My dad still has that old broken 69 and I managed to get him a 69 that was fixed but personally, I prefer the colored or brown glass.

Charlie - Great looking goncalo alves (tigerwood) on that 68.  You don't see many with nice figure.

Thanks Tony!  Not as nice as your rosewood riser on the 62. WOWZA!

Ron, I am contemplating it!  I seem to shoot these 60's grizzly's very well. It is because of that statement I may bring the griffin. Then if I miss, I will need a new excuse.   :readit:

Kenny, thanks for the kinds words. You can thank the 68  griz for the 67   :readit:     I hope you like it!   :wavey:

Nice bows!  Grizzlys are wonderful bows.

A few 1959s and a 1960.  I don't own the 1960 any longer.

Also a little zebrawood.  Threw in my leftys for you Cacciatore.

I am shooting a LH 1976 Super Grizzly for turkey season that I really enjoy.

When I was RH one of my favorites was the 1967 pictured at bottom.

Colin - your 59/60 Griz bows look great.  And you have a wild swing of grain figure in those zebrawood Griz!  I don't think I've ever seen another like the one on the right.  Are the left and right bows in that photo 64s?

Hey Charlie:
That is pretty cool. I have an early 70s Grizzly that I hunted with for a long time. It is in great shape with flawless limbs that I always kept covered with camo limb socks. Classic Bears like the Grizzly are great bows, though I have gone completely to Bear TDs and don't shoot my Grizzly any more. There are a lot of good memories in my "old Griz."
It's good to know you are doing well and having fun with a classic Grizzly.

Thanks Guys.

I was hoping this thread would take off with more pictures. I love the grizzly bows for some reason.

Joe, Glad you are well also. I had a 71 Grizzly that was in very good shape. I sent it to my wife's uncle to shoot so he can shoot with his son whom, fellow trad gangers firmly planted the bow bug into. He turns 13 this month.

I will see if I can dig up pictures of the 69. 55 and 58 that I own or have owned.
