I am refinishing an older bow for my friend and was wondering if any of you had any information about this company. The model is a "Kentuckian" with the camo limbs built by the American Archery Company. Any idea of what year they went out of business or what year this particular bow would be. Thanks for you help.

I know they were around in the early 60's yet because I have some catalogs with their bows in them from that time. The majority of their bows were named after the states, the New Yorker, the Texan, etc.

The 63 catalog I have has: the Californian $59.95, the New Yorker $49.95, the Pennsylvannian $39.95, the Texan $32.50, and the All American $19.95. The Kentuckian must have come after 63. Interesting how the west coast cost more than the south and east coast. They are neat bows in any case and not all that common. They were not mass produced like some other manufacures of the time.

Thanks for the info gents. I must say that after I lowered the shelf and put a nice radius on it this thing is a shooter and has some very nice lines to it. I love the camo limbs, its the same early camo pattern that you see Fred Bear wearing in some of his movies and still pics.

Yes, that is very similiar, especially the camo pattern on the limbs but its a different model than the one I am working on.

I just put the same style bow tiger wood, with camo limbs on the big site for my brother. Would be nice to keep, but wrong hand. It's a lefty.
