Two arrows at once?

Anybody ever try shooting two arrows at once? If you have hows it work?

When I'm trick shooting at thrown disc or running targets I'll sometimes shoot two arrows at onec and they both go where their supposed to.  I know that if you get shooting them much over 15 yds. you won't have much accuracy.

Larry Bamford, former P&Y preident (now deceased) killed a bear that way , way back in the early 60's. There was an article in one of the Mags. Maybe "Bow & Arrow ?"  about it.

Would the energy per arrow be decreased?  I would think if you are already shooting a fairly light bow, you would really lose penetration by doing this.

Yep, the energy in each arrow would be about half.  Can't see the benefit of a "shotgun bow".  But for trick shots, go for it!

   i completly agree,  one arrow in the right spot will do what one in the right spot and one to high or low.  that is the kind of thing i would expect from wheelie shooters.

I've tried it a few times with no great sucess just messing around at 3D shoots. It doesn't work to well shooting split finger. My friend can shoot two arrows much better with fairly good accuracy shooting 3 fingers under.

We do it for fun in the SCA.  Like most things it can be done with practice.  A friend of mine can put two arrows about six inches apart at forty yards aws a matter of routine.  On a good  day I  can do it at twenty.  But it isn't a big priority.  The main thing I have found is to keep the tips of the arrow together when you draw.  And as stated above you will have to aim much higher than with a single arrow.

We played with that a few years ago at our indoor club. Two arrows would hit a few inches apart at 20 yards. We also tried three at a time, but that was too slow, the arrows were spread about 12 inches apart vertically.

I shoot two arrows occasionally but the drop off in speed is great. If I were going to do it as part of a show, I'd put another rest on the bow just above the shelf. I'd probably put a second nocking point on the string as well. (You can get by without doing this, but you'd get more consistency.)  Lastly, I would go with lighter weight arrows to get the speed back up.

There's probably someone now secretly developing an arrow that will immediately after release split off into multiple arrowlets each with it's own little expanding broadhead.

And yes, 3 fingers under is the best way to shoot 2 or more arrows.

I did this about 3 years ago,, just for fun,, trying to do a few trick shots,, ( after seeing it some robin hood movi,    )

there were a few problems,, i found,,
1) you lost sooooo much speed,, halving the arrow speed,, is a lot,,
2) this bow i was using there was a little step on the sight window, on the risor, so the top arrow would go more to the left,
and i got all comfused with the aiming,, with 2 arrows ect,

it was good fun,, for about 5 mintets, and i even had to take a picute beacuse i managed to hit a tennis ball doing it,, but i soon took the second shelf off,,


allso one probem i had,, was i went to a 3D shoot, and the other competeters complaned beacuse they said that the second arrow shelf was a sight aid,,, so i very quickly took that off and poped it in my pocket,  :D

An interesting point, MT law states that a person may not hunt big game with a bow capible of shooting more than one arrow at a time.

Do you see that hole up by my second floor window?  No not that one, that's the one when I tried to shoot three under, the other one.  THAT'S the one when I tried shooting three arrows at once.

although if there could be a design where you could hit two seperate targets that would be cool.  haha just writing that made me think of how imposible that is.
