Bear T/D HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: July 11, 2012, 01:25:00 PM »
Do yall know of any way to cure an addiction to
Bear TakeDown Recurves. Every time I see one I have to have it and they are stacking up like cord wood around the house and I keep buying them. I blame
( Philip AKA - vintage-bears ) for selling me my first one.And every since I havent been the same guy , my wife says I talk about them in my sleep , she also says I talk about them with people that have no idea what Im talking about. And then there is this site called tradgang that is not helping me any with this problem , this place just feeds the fire.Well on second thought never mind I will just live with this problem. When I just thought about this I remember Im about to add on to my house and will have plenty of room for them. Now I guess I need more of them to fill my new man cave.........

Sam, I get it (no cure but time). I got hooked last year and find reasons to add just one more. Over the years I had picked up a lot of bows and have traded and sold them to get more takedowns. Thought I was done, at least one from every decade they were made but now I found a need for just oneeee more, a supreme, then I'm done :-).  Good luck with the one you just picked up. I shoot and hunt with all of mine too.

Yep, I understand also. I'd like a early greenstripe....

Yeah, but what the heck do I need an early greenstripe for? You have your "go-to"  type 1 A rig.

Yeah , but I never had a greenstripe.

But you like the A risers better.

Yeah, but maybe it's because you have never played with the B 's enough to REALLY decide?
Then I'll have to get new limbs.....and on and on.The voices

I just recently acquired my first Bear TD.   A  Magnesium B riser.  i'm now in the process of finding a different set of limbs. Next it will be an A mag riser and then a wood riser and then more limbs and on and on.

I know how all this works but I cant stop it

Yep! Nothing like a lot of you guy's but I just wanted one for the collection so I went for the first Mag C Riser that looked good due to affordibility. Thought that was enough but then up pops an early B Green Stripe so had to have that and of course then a to good to pass up early wood C comes up and sure enough that is now here too. Soooo whats next? A nice early wood A would fit in nicely....

The only cure I found for a Bear TD Addiction is a Heavy Dose of HOWATT.

Well Gang there is no hope for anyone of us! Picking up your second bow while you still own the first is the first mistake everyone of us has made. You see it leads to a third and another and so on. Before you know it you have sixteen wood/glass bows made by Bear archery, ranging from 1953 to 1969 and some cases duplicates, not to mention the nine Victor magnesium models and the limb sets in boxes hanging around. Fortunately the money train is what actually controls the addiction to some extent! Collecting and shooting everything has been such a pleasure, I do believe I prefer shooting the older bows so much more than the newest, latest and greatest. As I see it these bows shoot every bit as good today as the day they were made. I wish you all the best of luck with your addiction, good or bad?
Later gentlemen,Jacques

OK, as stated earlier just getting started with the takedowns but this is currently where I am. C Mag, Early Type 1 C, and an Early Green Stripe.
Hopefully my next addition will be an early Type 1 A.

Thanks for posting Larry.
You have good taste.

I'm very partial to green stripe wood handles.
Their beautiful and more importantly......Bulletproof!

Type 1 A risers are cool and all but check out the B riser before you dive in. PapaBear preferred it too.  :)
