Absolutely wonderful pictures!! Those are some fantastic handles.I do know of some other A-handles with low serial numbers but they don't start with the number "0" before the "1".I wonder what was going on at Bear early on with their numbering system.Great pics, thanks for sharing them.
Dave, you also have a PM from me.

Hey John & Dave,

This is something I noticed before but wasn't sure about until now. The back profile of your "special" early B handles are different. Daves handle is closer (perhaps not exact) to the profile of the production B handles, while Johns have a definite more pronounced round on the back in the grip area. Daves handle is a good example of the transition into production as the overall shape and styling is more reminiscent of the production handles besides two big differences (brass bears and flares!).

As always, thanks for sharing Guys!

Dug up another pic of some of my take-downs.Same ones in the other pictures just a different view in the spirit of Fred Bear.

Since Dave posted those great pics on this thread,I went back and found a couple of pictures I scanned from a short while ago at Compton.Al Reader, undisputed #1,all time take-down collector, was there with his display.I had talked to Al several times over the phone and was one of the first collectors I ever met when I first got into collecting many years ago.But this was the first and only time I ever got to meet Al in person. He was the most gracious, kind and giving person I had ever met.Always willing to share his vast information and knowledge of Bear stuff. He did a Q&A later that night under the big tent.It was truly one of my all time highlights since I was bitten by the Bear bug.R.I.P. Al.

He always shared his knowledge and always had time to talk Bear Archery.
I miss him very much.

The six year quest to find a LH Grayling Riser ended today as the mail man dropped off my early Bear Left Hand B-Riser . B-1346 B with the sight plate cut out. A special thanks to Dave, The #2-43# Dimpled White Tip Limbs will be perfect at my 29" draw. Guess it is time to start an A-Riser fund.

I'm not a take down collector but they are what I hunt with. Here are a few of mine. 3 are signed by Fred, 1 signed by Glen. John might recognize one of the C handles...

Chuck- If you're talking about me recognizing one of your C-risers,then I think everyone else has more of my handles than I do.I want them all back!!!

Yep John, That C on the left came from you. It was my first take down that I acquired many years ago. I have one other around here somewhere, those were all I could scrounge up quickly for a photo... then my camera battery died after the first shot so sorry for the poor quality pic. I wanted to get a shot of the coin side of the risers too.
