Here's a better pic of that handle, it's was some kind of rosewood stain.

Here's the deal on that handle. I bought a set of commemorative bows when they came out 12-14 years ago. A Super Kodiak, Super Mag 48 and a Long bow. I always felt that the bow that should commemorate Fred Bear should be a B handle but Bear already did that with the signature bows back in 1980-81? I never bought a signature because I never felt they are worth what they sell for. So I made my own. I have rattlesnake backed green tip limbs for my "commemorative handle" in honor of one of Fred's favorite bows, his snakeskin backed Grumley Deerslayer. This handle has the same crappy plastic compass used in the commemorative bows (mine 3 were signed by Glen when I met him in Kalamazoo a few years ago). The raised medallion  was replaced with a inset coin and on the belly side of the latches are gold bear tie pins that Fred had made to celebrate his world record Alaska  brownie. It is just a personal tribute for me.

The contrast between the rosewood stain and the green stripe just POP's!!!! A beaut for sure. Perhaps I missed it but did bd do the work for you? It appears to be very nicely done who ever did it. Neat stuff for sure........

I have been Bear nuts!, and it only gets worse in time. "The thrill is in the hunt" a fellow Bear nut told me that when explaining my frustration of not getting everything I wanted right away. He is correct! Congrats on that type 1 A handle, and thanks to all those who have congradulated me on this one. I am catching some serious flack about what I traded for it on the other trad site. Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

When it comes to trades, as long as both parties are happy, who cares what others think. It's a beautiful riser Shane, congrats.

I once traded a Beautiful MSW 59 Kodiak for a fairly rare Barbed Zwickey Broadhead.  Bow collectors probably think I'm crazy for that but Broadhead collectors probably think I did okay.

Beauty is, in fact, in the eye of the beholder or "bowholder" in this case.

Good Looking Chubby kid! hahahaha, well since my wife had kids I put on 40 pounds. So I am the chubby kid for now. The only way I am parting with this bow, is if I have a solid deal on a Stickbowman signed handle, and the money to buy it. I am also in hopes that my future plans allow me to buy one without having to part with anything I want to keep. Recently been blessed with good items. Just picked up a very nice northwoods quiver on the big site. trying to build my little Bear museum. Thanks for all the positive words guys! Ohhh, and I just have to tell this story because it may make everyone laugh. John text me, and said that he had someone who asked if the riser was his that I received, and offered him $2500 for it. He told me that I needed to send it back right away!  My instant feeling was like the protective dad, and I would swear that if I was a dog my mane would have stood up. That alone will tell you how much I love this new riser. Not to mention that I don't feel like another $36 shipping charge. I hope that he is happy with the Grumley. If he wasn't I would of course pack the handle up and drive to the post office slowly as if following a funeral procession.
