Help: If you own a Ben Pearson Ol' Ben 5000 Longbow
« on: August 31, 2012, 07:19:00 PM »
I'm hoping someone on the forum can help me: I'm looking for someone who has a Ben Pearson Ol' Ben 5000 longbow. I owned one back in the mid to late 80's and sold it like a the young fool I was. The regret was immediate.    :banghead:

Now I am getting into bow making and would like to replicate it. What I am hoping for is someone who has one who would be willing to help me with some measurements, most importantly of the riser and maybe one or two limb measurements.

What I'm looking for exactly is some of the riser info; riser length from fade tip to tip, handle depth (belly to back), and fade length (fade tip to where it meets the belly). Forgive me if I am over-explaining, it's my first (first post too!) and I wanted to start out with something simple and that I had missed. Thanks for answering so fast Bamboo!

For Larry M: It sure is a tooth rattler if I remember it correctly; but I got used to it and really had a lot of fun with it.

handle-1-7/8" deep
handle glass-to-glass-on belly-5"
1-3/8"limb width
cut just shy of center
70-1/2 ntn
shelf 2"above center of bow
formed with maybe 3/8"setback and 5/16"handle forward---a fun project!!post pictures!!good luck
