It finally happens if you do it long enough
« on: September 11, 2012, 11:22:00 AM »
Bad dealings with dishonest or ignorant people are bound to happen if you collect bows long enough.  I consider myself very fortunate that this hasn't happened sooner.  I've been very lucky.

Not trying to whine or cry about it in this post but just want to add a word of caution to fellow collectors out there.

I've never had an issue with anyone on this site and never had an issue that couldn't be resolved on the big auction site but dealing with the big "list" is like entering dangerous waters.  Thankfully I paid with Paypal so I'll put the wheels in motion in an attempt to make things right.

In this particular case I bought a bow from a guy that probably truly didn't know the difference between a bow that was in fair shape versus one that is in excellent shape which is how he described it.  Pictures were of low quality and when I spoke with him on the phone and asked him specific questions he answered them correctly from my point of view but I'm not sure he really knew the correct answer.  Make sense?

Oh well, you live you learn, you win you lose, you get hosed sometimes and sometimes you come out smelling like a rose.

Just be careful and try to protect yourself.

I understand the sentiment Trap.
I received one which was missing the tip overlays. In talking to the seller I am convinced there was no intent to cheat, or pass off the bow as being in better shape than it was.  The seller was just ignorant and I was so excited about possibly getting the bow I didn't ask for enough pictures to gauge the bows condition better.  Long story short...I learned from the experience and so did the seller.
I think once you accept the path of buying and selling over the internet without the ability of first hand scrutiny you have to also accept the possibility and impending probability of getting the short end of a deal occasionally.

Sadly I don't think this particular seller is willing to learn anything. I attempted to negotiate some sort of resolution with him and I'm the bad guy now.

Towards the end of our conversation I asked him if he had any additional vintage archery tackle left to sell. I think he thought I might want something more to make up for the bad deal. When he said, "nope, that's all I have".  I told him, "great, I won't have to warn my friends about you". He promptly ended our conversation but never said goodbye. Lol

Way more scammers out there now then ever!! Especially if it says BEAR. Must at least be worth a fricken fortune. You would think by looking at the auction site and some of the posts.  Buyer Beware! Sorry to say but Honest and Ethical does not seem to cut it any more with some folks.......... I have NEVER had any problems here and don't expect any.
