My Refinished Jack Howard Arrived!
« on: September 26, 2012, 10:52:00 PM »
I got this JH bow about a year ago with plans to refinish it.......manfromthepast very generously provided the new stickers to replace the completely battered ones, so a couple of months ago I sent the bow off to the bowdoc for a little special treatment.

Don't the new stickers look great?
Here is a shot of the riser too

Don did his usual perfect re-fi job and
Chad from Champion Bowstrings made up the string from some of Jack's original string material.
Trap provided the feather rest which is way better than what was there originally.
I can't get over how good the bow looks-and what a shooter!
It is 54#@28" and smooth as a-well you know.

Did Chad make an endless or flemish string with Jacks material?

Awesome looking bow!  :)

There's not a better looking bow out there than a real nice GJ.  Donnie's as good as there is at making them look like new-or better!  He's sent me three "presents" lately, and they all simply knock your eyes out!  I've got a couple of GJs, but am sure envious of you on that one!

Beautiful bow Bjorn!  The colors just pop on that one after the refinish.

Bowdocs shop is like the "fountain of youth" for vintage bows.

Amazing bow Bjorn, a beauty for sure.

Wow!!!!!!  I saw a Jack Howard bow on the big auction site recently and the seller didn't seem to know what he had.  The bidders soon found it!

That's a beautiful restoration. Congratulations.

As sweet as it gets. The original string material has to be made in a endless loop. I made a flemish string out of it one time and it was like stretching a rubber band. My #60 pound Jet shoots a 600 gr arrow faster than my 60# ACS. Too bad he never made a takedown.

Thanks guys! It turned out beautiful, I'm donating the bow to the PBS to raise money for their Youth Hunts.

Beautiful bow Bjorn. Bowdoc did an amazing refinish.

It's very generous of you to donate it to PBS  :clapper:

Bjorn you are a true gentleman. I hope the bow brings more at auction for the PBS than you could ever imagine.

When you hand it to them, tell them Daryl Damron would like to start the bidding at $1000.00. Doubt it will linger there long.

Awesome!!!!!!!

That bow is "almost" as pretty as a Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader!!! What a nice finish. That is my dream bow right there. Don't I kick myself for not buying one from Mr. Howard back in the early 90's when I was considering it.

Beautiful bow Bjorn!!  Your post reminds me that a few weeks back you'd asked for the serial number off my Jet.  I believe you said Kelly wanted the info.  I now have two of them so I'll list both:

57lb @ 28" Marked "Final Edition by Jack Howard"
M-962

65lb @ 28" Marked F-312

Thanks again Bjorn!  Very sweet shooters!

Thanks, Dave.

For your info M-962 is the highest serial number I have on file so far. M-959 was made May 22, 2001.

Am quessing on F-312 because I have a 11 year span from known date 1972 when F-154 was made and July 1984 when F-600 was made. That is 446 Gamemaster Jets made in those 11 years-about 40 bows per year. I'd guess F-312 at 1974/75.

Kelly;

Maybe it really was the Final Edition!    Pretty impressive shooting bow.

Do you have a summer home in Prentice?

Hi Dave;

Yes, we do and will be retiring there in the next year, or so.

Thanks, Kelly

Great to hear Kelly!  Hopefully I'll see you at one of the traditional shoots somewhere!
