Darton Super Flite Ranger ??
« on: November 20, 2012, 02:11:00 PM »
Started my journey of the trad way with an old Darton Super Flite Ranger, Ser.no. 15627, about 8 years ago.  Was wondering about more info on the bow.  Apparently Darton had no recurves in their catalog after 1974.  If you know any Darton recurve history, I'd appreciate so more info.

Thanks,
TomBow
Best of Luck!

Darton Archery has been around since the 1950's when it began in Michigan making leather goods and arrows.  It began making recurves in the 60's, but stopped doing so when the compound became popular.

In the late 1990's, it hired Ron Pittsley to market his great Predator recurve and revamp the trad bow lineup. Ron is now on his own making this fine bow.

A good friend of mine entered the Law Enforcement Olympics with his Darton recurve similar to yours, and he brought home a medal or two. They're rather inexpensive bows and collector interest seems minimal, but they still shoot quite well.

Blackhawk--Thanks for the information.  Recon I'll peruse the Darton website to see the old catalogs.

Best of Luck to you and yours.

I, too, have this bow. Very lightweight. It's what brought me back to trad bows recently, I rediscovered it in the back of the closet. I've been watching the auction site looking for another. I'd be interested if you find out more and I'll post if I learn anything other than what's already posted.
