how old is this bear
« on: December 03, 2012, 04:06:00 AM »
Hi all , stumbled across a used bear recurve stacked out the back of my mates gunb shop and I was hoping the age could be identified by the serial number.
KR95010
Its 58'AMO and 50#@28 so should be a good shooter . Will get some pics up after I pick it up as some hints on how to refinish will be needed.
Thanks in advance
Clint

Sounds like a Grizzly from the 70s.

KR serial number and 58" AMO started 1971. The 71 and 72 model were single wood risers.Dual futurewood riser with accent strip and raised medallion 1973-mid 77.

Are they rated as collectible or just a great bit of archery history?

I guess any Bear Grayling bow can be collectable. I have owned all the year Grayling Grizzlies except a 1954 at one time or another.  Due to space and money the newest one in my collection now is a 1971.

Were you able to narrow the year down on yours from my discription?
